Dr. Yulinda Renee Rahman
Founder/Board President
Dr. Yulinda Renee Rahman, known as Doc YuRoc, is a clinical sexologist, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and founder of the Kink Professional Standards Alliance. Her work sits at the intersection of kink-affirming clinical practice, racialized trauma, and the development of ethical professional standards for a field that has historically lacked them.
Dr. Rahman is the originator of three clinical frameworks: Therapeutic BDSM, a structured, trauma-informed healing modality; Self-Reconciliation Therapy (SRT), developed to support somatic healing for individuals with histories of body-based trauma; and PERK (Principles of Ethical Relational Kink), a framework for ethical practice in kink-identified relationships and clinical contexts. These frameworks are the foundation of KPSA’s credentialing programs, including the Certified Practitioner of Kink-Affirming Practice (CPKP).
She is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Kink and Community, the first peer-reviewed publication dedicated to kink practice, clinical care, and community knowledge. Her published research includes community-informed empirical studies on Therapeutic BDSM and the therapeutic experiences of Black women with histories of sexual trauma.
With over twenty-five years in the mental health field and a career rooted in educational leadership, clinical practice, and community-centered scholarship, Dr. Rahman founded Heal On Purpose Inc. to address the profound and underresearched impact of sexual trauma on the Black community. That founding mission now extends into the intersection of kink identity, sexuality, and racialized experience, areas that remain critically underserved in both research and clinical practice.
